Completion Maribo Halfway House
01.05.2025
The opening of the Maribo Halfway House is now a reality.
In collaboration with kriminalforsorgen, SWECO, BARA-Land, Kjær & Lassen, the historic 1865 Maribo detention center has been transformed into a modern Halfway House for both men and women.
Tranformation
The project involved the transformation of the former Maribo detention center into a modern, welcoming halfway house with space for 20 residents and dedicated staff facilities.
The outdoor areas have been reimagined with recreational spaces, a sports field, a children's playground for visiting families, and secure bicycle parking.
The entrance courtyard has also been revitalized with new plantings, improved lighting, and updated paving to create a bright and inviting atmosphere.
Inside improvements
Inside, one of the most impactful upgrades is the dramatic improvement in daylight conditions. The small, inconvenient 18th-century windows have been replaced with larger, modern ones—bringing more light and comfort into residents' rooms.
Maribo Halfway House is the first of three new halfway houses planned to open in the coming years.
A warm thank you to all our fantastic collaborators who helped bring this project to life!
