Expansion of Sønder Omme

Status at the construction site

It has now been 9 months since Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgård and the Director of the Danish Prison and Probation Service, Ina Eliasen, broke ground on the expansion of Sønder Omme Prison — a project that marks another important step in justice architecture and sustainable prison design.

Thanks to strong collaboration with KG Hansen and our partners, site preparation is complete and the structural framework is in place for several of the new secure facilities. The school building, shown in the photo, is being constructed as a lightweight structure, helping reduce the prison’s overall CO₂ footprint and reflecting APA’s focus on sustainable construction in correctional design.

APA thanks the Danish Prison and Probation Service, KG Hansen, Viborg Engineers, BARA-land, and COWI for the successful collaboration and wishes everyone a great summer.
