Viborg Police Station
The Viborg Police Station was built in 1999 as a replacement for the original police station located in the city center. The building received an award from Viborg Municipality the same year. Alex Poulsen Architects (APA) served as lead consultant on the project in all phases — from programming and design development to final handover.

Timeless materiality
The police station is positioned diagonally on the square site, giving the building a strong, sharp, and precise presence on its open site. In contrast to the monumental scale, light natural stone was used to create a timeless and refined facade expression. Up close, the organic patterns of the stone reveal depth and texture, while the use of jatoba wood inside adds warmth and visual calm to the architecture. Together, these materials define a composition of lightness, clarity, and permanence.
High level of detail
Throughout the interior of the building, detailed impressions have been incorporated, which can be experienced through the choice of materials as well as in the integrated artwork created by Finn Naur Petersen, consisting of small crystal lamps and figures that adorn the corridors of the police station. Together with the natural materials, crafted detailing, and integrated art, they highlight the building’s architectural precision and human-centered approach to law enforcement architecture.
